Creative and Artistic Ways to Combat Burnout as a Virtual Assistant
Feeling Burnt Out?
Being a virtual assistant can be incredibly rewarding, but it also comes with its challenges. One of the most common struggles is burnout—a state of mental and physical exhaustion that can sneak up on you when you’re constantly juggling tasks, managing screens, and feeling the pressure to always be "on." If you’ve ever felt overwhelmed in your role, you’re not alone.
How Burnout Affects Virtual Assistants
Burnout doesn’t just affect productivity; it impacts mental well-being, motivation, and overall job satisfaction. When work piles up and self-care takes a backseat, feelings of stress and exhaustion can become overwhelming.

These artworks are part of my Diwata Drawing Series. The term "Diwata" is Filipino word for Deity or Goddess. Before the colonial period, "batik" is referred to traditional tattoos that held great significance in Filipino art and cultural heritage. It symbolized status, lineage, achievements, and the belief in protection from evil spirits.
How I Found a Creative Outlet through Art
One of the most effective ways I’ve found to combat burnout is by finding my way back to my first love-- Arts and Crafts. Whether it’s doodling, painting, or sketching random ideas, taking a creative break helps shift my focus and recharge my mind. Engaging in artistic activities can feel like a mental reset, offering a fresh perspective and a sense of calm.
Whilst staring at my screen after an 8-hour graveyard shift, I found myself scrolling to my Tiktok account and began checking out art materials.
Here are the materials I used. (Btw, I'm based in the Philippines so you might not see these on your cart):
